Good morning everyone. Christmas is right around the corner and we have a had a very slow start to the winter season. Temperatures are running almost 12 degrees warmer than last winter and only 2 days this December have been below the average temperature. Last year in December, we saw just 2 days above normal in temperatures. Snow has also been very scarce to start the month, but a minor disturbance yesterday did give Chicago it's biggest snow the season. An "Alberta Clipper" moved into the area at about 3:30am this morning and dumped a quick 1.2" on O'Hare Airport, the largest snowfall of the season. The snow did not last long, as the system has pulled out of the area, but clouds and flurries remain throughout the rest of day as temperatures will top out in the mid 30s.
Things will change tomorrow though as the snow will melt behind sunshine and mid 40 degree temperatures. The Bears game time temperature is expected to be 42 degrees with highs topping out at 46 degrees. Another weather system is targeting the area on Monday-Tuesday, with the potential for some accumulating snow on Tuesday. The track of this system is still to be determined, but that appears to be our next snow producer, although it's not going to be a major storm.
Here are some local snowfall totals from this morning:
4.0" Winslow, IL (between Rockford and Dubuque)
2.9" Freeport, IL
2.0" DeKalb, IL
1.5" Rockford
1.2" Bativia
1.2" Chicago-O'Hare
0.9" Naperville
0.8" Chicago-Midway
Stay tuned to my blog throughout the winter season for the latest winter weather as it happens in Chicago!!!

Good morning everyone.
The dry spell is finally over. O'Hare officially picked up 0.5" of snow from last night's minor snow event. This puts this winter as the 5th for latest date of the first measurable snowfall. The snow season has been off to a very slow start which is raise the question as to how much snow we will see this winter. No major storms are on the horizon and temperatures are expected to rise back into the 40s by the start of next week. History tells us that we should have a below-average snow season due to the lack of snow early on in the month of December. However, as we know, Chicago has a lot of wacky weather and anything can indeed happen.
For today, it will be the COLDEST day of the season, with temperatures no expected to make it into the 30s during the day. It currently sits at 26 with temperatures holding steady throughout most of the day. However, despite the cold, we should see a lot of sunshine today and tomorrow as well, although the cold will still be around for at least one more day tomorrow. More updates will be provided later on!

Good afternoon!
Sorry for the lack of updates from my weather blog recently. I am going to start updating it on a more frequent basis.
For today, we will see temperatures top out at about 45 degrees! Temperatures are currently at about 43 degrees with wind advisories remaining in effect. Wind gust have top 50mph O'Hare and even 60mph in some places. Rain will be moving into the area later in the day. As temperatures continue to fall throughout the evening, the rain is expected to mix with/or change over to wet snow, however, no accumulation is expected due to the warm Lake Michigan waters. Areas away from the lake could see minor accumulations on grassy surfaces or cars. It will rather slippery/hazardous during rush hour so be careful. More updates will be coming later on today!

Highs should top out at 38 degrees, with the prospects of a few SNOW showers or flurries possible as the day progress. Yesterday, O'Hare officially recorded it FIRST snowflakes of the season at 1:50pm. Lows tonight should drop BELOW freezing tonight! I will have a lot more on the weather coming up a little later, so stay tuned for updates!!!

Good morning and Happy October!
My weather blog is once again up and running. Please check the blog daily the latest weather news. Temperatures have been rather cool over the last couple of days, and will remain that way today as well. It is currently 51 degrees, with temperatures maxing out at just 54 degrees. It will remain mostly sunny in exception for a few sporadic lake-effect showers that could pop up along the lake. Winds will be out of the north at 14-20mph. Lows tonight could drop below 40 again, like they did last night.
BIG CHANGE is the on the way starting Sunday, as temperatures will climb back into the 60s tomorrow, and will rise and remain steady in the mid 70s throughout the duration of next week. It should remain sunny throughout most of the week as well, which is a big relief after all the rain we have had over the last week or so. As always with weather, things can change rather quickly, so please take a look at the blog multiple times so you can get the latest up-to-date weather.
Have a wonderful start to your October!

Well, Happy September everyone! It has been quite a while since I last updated this weather blog! As you can tell, the name has now changed so I hope you will enjoy that! I will go back to updating the weather blog on a daily basis! Be sure to check out the blog daily for the latest on Chicago's ever-changing weather. Being that I go to school in Romeoville, I will be posting forecasts and weather for both Chicago and Romeoville. Most of the weather is relatively the same, but on occasion there is a difference!
Temperatures will remain right around the mid 70s for the remainder of today! Sporadic showers could pop up, especially in areas along and South of Interstate 88! Clouds will dominate the remainder of the day, with a few peaks of sun not out of the question. Most of the rain will be the left over remnants of Tropical Storm Lee! This rain will move in from the Northeast! All rain should be relatively light and very sporadic!
Temperatures will rebound to almost 80 degrees tomorrow under partly sunny skies. A few morning showers can't be ruled out! Stay to to this blog for the latest!

Welcome back to my weather blog! I apologize for almost the two month delay in my posts on my weather blog. I have been off to a busy summer and haven't found the time to get these updates in! Rest assured that I will begin to post multiple times per day once again!
Here is the weather for tomorrow: Temperatures will begin to warm up finally after a long stretch of cooler weather. Most cloudy, a few peeks of sun, and showers and thunderstorms threaten throughout most of the day. It will not be a like Wednesday when almost the whole day was wet and rainy. Temperatures will approach the 80 degree for the first time in a week. Real warmth will return next week as temps are expected to surge into the 90s by my birthday on Monday! Stay tuned to my weather blog for the latest up-to-date weather, and the many changes I have in store for this summer! Enjoy1

19 April 2011
Good afternoon everyone! I apologize for the lack of updates over the last week, but I am back and running with my blog. We are experiencing some very cold weather recently and that trend will continue throughout most of the week. Yesterday, Chicago saw 0.6" of snow fall at O'Hare, the most snowfall on April 18 since 0.4" in 1910. Temperatures are more typical of early November than late spring, as highs have struggled to reach 40 the last two days. Today has been a cloudy and rainy day with temperatures around 35 degrees. More showers and even a few thunderstorms are possible across the area throughout the rest of the night. Most thunderstorms should stay south of Chicago, but it's not out of the question. Tomorrow will be a little bit more sunnier, but just as cold with temperatures at around 45. However, a warmup is in the forecast as upper 50s are expected by Easter and Monday could get close to 70. Stay tuned for the latest on this ever changing weather!
10 April 2011
Good afternoon everyone and I hope you are enjoying this summer weather. Highs have reached into the 80s in most places, but did not get up into the upper 80s range like originally predicted. However, it has been an absolutely beautiful in Chicago and hope everyone has gotten the opportunity to enjoy this weather because it is not going to last. Temperatures will drop back into the 60s tomorrow and remain in the mid 60s for most of the week, until it gets even colder next weekend, with temperatures possibly struggling to reach the 50 degree mark. Let's focus on the short term for now though. O'Hare's 83 degree high today is the first 80 of the season and well worth it. Along with this surge of warmth today, major severe thunderstorms will begin to roll into the area within the next few hours. Please stay tuned to my weather blog to get the latest on the severe thunderstorms expected to move into the area.
09 April 2011
Good afternoon. We have a beautiful day on our hands today! Highs could climb into the 70s today, with temperatures currently in the mid 60s. It's sunny and very few clouds are around. Temperatures will get into the 80s tomorrow and could approach the record high with strong severe thunderstorms moving into the area on Sunday night. We could see some showers and thunderstorms around later tonight as well. For now, enjoy the near 70 degree weather as tomorrow will be even better. The outlook for next week will be cooler than tomorrow, but temperatures will be in the mid 60s most of the days next week. More updates on a possible shower for tonight later on!
07 April 2011
Good afternoon!
I apologize for the lack of updates over the last couple of days. Today was another chilly day in Chicago, with temperatures just reaching 50 degrees. Overcast skies have dominated the day and some rain is on the way. For those you that like the warmer weather, we will have a HUGE warm up this weekend, which will likely see temperatures surge in to 80s by Sunday, before falling back in to the 60s by next week. However, 60 degrees will still be great weather for this time of year. Remember, this is the time of the year, in which we see bouncing temperatures. This means that there is no consistency in the weather pattern, temperatures jump up and down on a day-by-day basis. Either way, the weather will get warmer, first feeling like summer, and then dropping back to more typical spring temperatures. More on the big warm up in a later post.
For the rest of today, watch out for some rain pulling into from the south. South sections should be seeing rain shortly as it is moving into the Joliet area. A few thunderstorms could be embedded in this rain system. Be careful when driving. Stay tuned to my weather blog later in the day for the latest on the rain, and the warm up on Saturday and Sunday!

Good evening everyone. I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend as it turned out to be a really nice weekend. Today's highs reached 72 degrees at O'Hare. The first 70 degree day of the year. However, the extreme warmth will not be back til later in the weekend. First, however, thunderstorms are rolling into the area tonight and will continue until 3am. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is effect until 3am for all major counties. There will be a series of storms that will blanket the area between now and 3am. A few thunderstorms are now rolling through the area with some heavy rains, lightning, thunder, and even hail in a few spots. Be cautious for the next several hours as these storms could be dangerous.
As for tomorrow, temperatures will revert back to normal with a high of about 52 degrees. A few morning sprinkles can't be ruled out. Otherwise, the day will remain mostly cloudy, cool, with NW winds at 20-30 per hour. Temperatures are expected to climb back into the 60s by late in the week with another 70 possible.
Stay tuned for the latest and up-to-date weather conditions

31 March 2011
We had an absolutely beautiful day today as temperatures climbed to 47 degrees. Although that was still 6 degrees below normal, it felt great with the unlimited sunshine that we had. Unfortunately, tomorrow will not be as nice. Although temperatures are expected to top out at about 48 degrees, it will be cloudy most of the day with a few light rain showers. This rain will be very little and should not affected the Cubs Home Opener tomorrow. It may rain lightly during parts of the game, but it should not be hard enough to delay the game. This weather is quite a change from the 70 degrees that it was a year ago, and the 70 that we saw on Opening Day last season. However, the warmer weather is on its way, with temperatures climbing close to 60 by Thursday of next week, and we should see a few 50s before then as well. As baseball season begins, summer is right around the corner. Sit back and relax. Enjoy the rest of your day!
30 March 2011
I hope you all enjoyed a beautiful Wednesday! Temperatures did reach 45 degrees today and could reach close to 50 tomorrow under mostly sunny skies. It should be another beautiful day before a cooler and gloomy Cubs home opener on Friday! More details to about tomorrow. Weather indices are beginning to indicate a warm up for the middle of next week. Nothing is set in a stone, but a 60 might be possible for Thursday and Friday by 70 of next week. Stay tuned for the latest and most updated information!
29 March 2011
Good evening. The cold weather pattern continued today will remain in tact for a while. While early forecasts indicate a warmer weekend, overall the next two weeks will remain cooler than normal, but hopefully we have seen the last of the 30s. Today's high topped out at 40 degrees and we had mostly cloudy skies. Tomorrow will be slightly warmer with temperatures rising up to 43 degrees, under mostly sunny skies once again. Northeast winds will be at 8-15mph.
The Cubs home opener will see temperatures in the upper 40s with a chance of a shower midday, before a weekend warm up into the 50s before temps go back into the 40s at the start of next week. Hang it there! There weather will eventually arrive!!! It's only a matter of time!

As for the weather, we are currently in a new cold spell after having some warm weather that last week or so and the arrival of spring on Sunday! However, it can still be cold and snowy in spring and so far it is. A full light snow flurries popped up in areas this afternoon as temperatures struggled to get past 32 degrees today! The sun has now come out, but it still remains cold! Temperatures will remain cold throughout the weekend, topping out in the mid 30s. A warm up is expected to return by the middle of next week and hopefully, this is the last cold punch. Stay tuned to my blog for the latest and remember to sign up for the email alerts!

Good afternoon!
A warm up is underway and enjoy it while it lasts. We currently sit at 54 degrees with sunny skies in Chicago. It will rise to a high of 60 degrees with lots of sun, and tomorrow will be the warmest St. Patrick's Day since the record 74 degrees was recorded in 2009. A high of 67 degrees with rain though tomorrow. A lot more will be coming on that soon. The average date of our first 60 is February 28 so it's almost two weeks late, assuming that we hit 60 today. Enjoy today for now, as indications point to colder weather by mid next week and into the end of the month. We are now in the middle of March and are in the bouncing temperature period for the next month and a half! A full update will be posted later today!

Good evening!
For those that do not like the snow, there is some good news. This storm is not materializing as originally planned and has tracked a little farther south than expected. There is more dry air than originally planned. The Winter Weather Advisory for Cook has been cancelled, as only 1-3" of snow is expected, while all counties south of Cook remain under the 3-5" range and winter weather advisory! I still would not count out the effects of this system, despite the change in conditions. I'm still saying the 2-3" in Chicago is a good possibility, and possibly even a little more!
Stay tuned for the latest!

Good afternoon everyone!
A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect until 9am tomorrow morning, as a fast-moving snow system will move into the Chicago area tonight. Snow will begin between 8 and 11pm, as temperatures continue to drop to below the freezing level. Snow will fall for much of the night, before tapering off to flurries by early tomorrow morning. This snow will not effect the evening rush hour. By tomorrow morning, expect 3-5" of snow in the city with totals topping 6" in far south counties, and totals under 3" in counties north of the city. This storm is poised to break Chicago's all-time record for snowfall in the month of February, which currently stands at 27.8", set back in 1896. February's snowfall currently sits at 27" so we should be able to break the record. Be careful out there, as roads will become slippery tonight and tomorrow morning. Snowfall rates could exceed 1" per hour at times in certain locations. Check back later for more details on this system and the next two systems expected over the weekend!

Good afternoon everyone!
Well, what an interesting weather pattern we have seen in Chicago. Temperatures warmed up to nearly 60 degrees on Thursday, and now today, winter has returned. Expect some snow to begin to move into the area over the next couple of hours and strengthen in intensity by the overnight hours. Snow totals are expected to be in the 2-4" range from this system, with some places along the lake receiving a little more. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect til 6AM tomorrow morning. Be careful of slippery roads. Check back later for more updates!

Good evening everyone! Sorry for the lack of updates recently, but I am back to updating. Please remember to check this blog on a daily basis. I will try to updated it at least once a day if not more.
Tomorrow could be another record setting day, although not for snow. The current warm spell reaches it height tomorrow with highs expected to hit 60 degrees, which would tie the 138 year record set back in 1873. Should we surpass 61 degrees, and its very likely, we would break the record. Some light rain could also pop up at times tomorrow and strong south winds at 35mph are expected. Temperatures are currently 45 degrees and will go up throughout the night. Temperatures will not drop off very much tomorrow night and then the colder air begins to settle back in. Temperatures will still be in the mid 40s of Friday, and eventually falling into the 30s or lower by the start of next week. A system targeted for Monday has to be monitored. Depending upon the track of the storm, and where the temperatures are, we could see rain, snow, sleet, or a mix of all of them. Stay tuned for the latest!

Good evening everyone!
Wow, the snow is no through yet. Yesterday, Chicago picked up 2.6" from a mini little system that put Chicago's snowfall total over 50" for the fourth consecutive year. The first time in Chicago history that we have seen for straight years of at least 50." The snow totals continued to go up as another 3" blanket the city this afternoon and evening. Most of the snow in the city is winding down, but there are bursts of snow that could drop down a quick inch or so in spots, so please be careful. We have some very interested weather here the next couple of days! Tonight, temps will drop off to about zero as arctic air plunges into the area. This arctic air will hang around til at least Thursday and into Friday before temperatures will finally breaking freezing over the weekend and into the start of next week. A warming trend appears to be in place for next week which will begin to melt some of this deep snow pack in the city! How much we will warm up and how much snow will melt is still in question, but please be aware that this current cold spell will not be the last of the cold weather, and this is not the last of the snow either.
Tomorrow we will see a high of just 7 degrees and a low of -4, despite unlimited sunshine. NW winds will put wind chills at -25 below so please stay warm. Stay tuned for more updates and be sure to check the other pages out as well!

Good afternoon!!
Happy Super Bowl to you all!! Chicago say a little more snow this morning, all though nothing like what we saw on Tuesday!!! Another 1-4" blanket most areas this morning and will see light flurries throughout the rest of the day!! However, now the cold comes in!!! Today's highs topped out at 32 degrees and tomorrow's highs will be in the upper 20s. Then temperatures will CRASH tomorrow night and the rest of the week will see single digit highs and BITTER COLD, with close to double digit below zero lows. Signs are pointing to a slight warmup starting next weekend, although no mega highs are predicting. It appears to be just some low to upper 30s, but more on that later. In the mean time, enjoy the cold and snow!! It will be here for a least anything week. Check back daily for updates and remember to check out the other pages on my blog.
Snowfall Totals
3.7" Oak Park

Good afternoon!
The Blizzard of 2011 has finally ended in Chicago. A little lasting lake effect is around, but is moving into NW Indiana. This was indeed a historic snowfall, but it did NOT break the all-time record. O'Hare finished with a whopping 20.2" and Midway at 20.9". This is good enough for # 3 on the all-time biggest snows in Chicago. The record of 23" in 1967 remains in tact! A truly historic storm that is now in the record books. Snow topped 2" per hour in most areas and visibilities got down to 0 in a lot of areas also. Record breaking winds also blanket the area, with the lakefront seeing a 70 mph wind gusts and Midway and O'Hare each topping 60 mph. Snowfall totals came in the 16-22" range for most areas with Chicago seeing some of the highest totals. This truly was an amazing blizzard as snow drifts top 6-7 feet in some areas. The city and neighboring villages will have a lot of cleaning up to do, and many area city schools are already closing for tomorrow!!! A full updated list of school closings will be posted in the Emergency Closings page. USPS has shut down and Pace will shut down at 6pm tonight! It truly does look amazing with all this snow on the ground and snow mounds higher than people! Temperatures are going to drop throughout the day and only top out in the single digits tomorrow. A full weather report will be posted later.
Snowfall Totals:
Elk Grove Village- 22"
Downer's Grove- 21.1"
Midway- 20.9"
O'Hare 20.2"
Oakbrook- 19.5"
DeKalb- 18.7"
Romeoville- 16.4"
Rockford- 14.3"
More totals to come as they are released! Enjoy the day!

Good evening once again!
This has been a very impressive blizzard and we are not done with it yet. A lot of snow is still on schedule to fall overnight, although things should improve by morning. When it's all said and done, still expecting between 16-24" for city and many areas around it. Thundersnow has been reported in MANY areas, including some hail at Midway!!! Visibilities have dropped below a 1/4 mile for a while and wind gusts have topped 60mph although the wind should die down a little overnight. (Gusts topping out at 40-45mph). Still, the heaviest snow is yet to come, with rates of 3-4" per hour! Lake Shore Drive is closed. Portions of I-90 are closed and snow fighting trucks can't keep up with this snow! Lake effect will begin to take over towards morning and that could boost totals to the 24" mark. DON'T TRAVEL, unless absolutely necessary!!! Conditions are still very bad and will remain that way for several more hours. Now for some local area snowfall totals as of Midnight!! Chicago has a set an all time record for the most snowfall in a single calendar day, 13.6"!
13.6" O'Hare
13" Schaumburg
12" Tinley Park
11.9" Midway
11.9" Romeoville
11.5" Melrose Park
10.9" Rockford
More updates will come as they are released!!!!

Good evening.
We are now in the thick of the blizzard and the worst part of the storm is yet to come. Snowfall totals have yet to really come in. Midway has reporter 6.2" as of 8pm and through 6pm, O'Hare had 2.8" so that will go up significantly. Lake Shore Drive is now closed down! The winds have picked up and so has the snow. It is snowing real heavily and conditions could still get even worse. Thundersnow has been reported in many areas and more thundersnow could still occur, especially in the city of Chicago. As more totals come in, I will update the posts with the latest totals. Please be careful as this is a major blizzard still with over 12 hours of snow yet to fall! It appears snowfall totals won't be as high as 2 feet (unless the lake effect really adds to it), but it should still come in at the 16-20" range!!! More updates will be given as the storm progresses!
Alright, good afternoon!
The storm is underway and has hit with a vengeance!! Heavy snow and blizzard conditions will continue through tomorrow morning!!! THE BLIZZARD WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR ALL OF NORTHERN/CENTRAL ILLINOIS!!! Please take extreme caution as visibilities have been reduced to less that a 1/4 of a mile in most spots. Conditions will be getting worse as the storm progresses. Midway has cancelled all of its flights, but remains open for the time being. O'Hare has cancelled 1300 flights with more coming as the day wears on. More and more schools are being cancelled for tomorrow and that will be updated as the day goes on! As soon as storm totals begin to come in, I will begin posting them on the blog. Stay tuned for the latest!!! Things are only going to get worse!!!

Good afternoon!
The details of the this storm are beginning to take shape. Let me start off by saying that NONE of this is being overdone! This is a very SERIOUS storm that will cripple the Chicago land area starting tomorrow night. We first will see some light snow develop during the night hours tonight that will drop about 1-2" on the city, but that is nothing compared to what's to come! This blizzard could top the Blizzard of 1967 when 23 inches fell in the city. The storm will roll in at around this time tomorrow and by about 9pm, the worst of the storm will have begun. The storm will snow at 2-3" per hour and could reach 4" per hour in areas where thundersnow may be present. The worst of the storm should be from 9pm Tuesday til 6am Wednesday. Driving will be nearly impossible during this time and throughout most of the storm as winds in excess of 40mph combined with the heavy snow will cause visibilities to be reduced to almost NOTHING!!!! Storm totals will be in the 18-24" range in Chicago. Chicago could also see some lake effect snow that could boosts snowfall to over the 2 foot mark in some areas. If we record more than 16", then it will be one of the Top 5 snow storms in Chicago history. Again, please be aware that this is not something to be taken lightly. This is a major storm that will bring dangerous weather conditions and nearly impossible travel. Schools and businesses will be CLOSED on Wednesday and power outages will occur. I will have a few new tabs on my blog that will be updated with ALL school/business closings, as well as the Top 5 Snowstorms in Chicago. Please check back to this site for the latest on the storm!

Good morning.
The next few days in Chicago are going to be quite interesting. A MAJOR WINTER STORM is taking shape and the first batch of snow will arrive late tonight and continue into Tuesday morning. This will be about 2-4" with the main event pulling into the area on Tuesday afternoon. A BLIZZARD WATCH is currently will go into effect on Tuesday afternoon and continue til Wednesday afternoon. The combination of very heavy snow and 40+ mph winds will cause considerable blowing and drifting snow and will reduce visibilities to almost nothing. The worst of this storm should be in the late hours of Tuesday and into Wednesday morning. The snowfall totals for this system will vary depending upon where you live. Generally, 12-18" is expected from this system. However, most of the area around Chicago (including Chicago) should see in the 18-24" range. The other questionable is how much moisture this system is packing. The average of 80 computer model runs is 1.17" at 15:1 ratio (totaling 18" of snow). However, a lot of the European and Canadian models have spit out over 1.5" of snow (putting us over the 20" range). Lake effect moisture will also add to totals in the Chicago area and counties along the lake. This storm has the potential to break the 23" record in 1967, which currently stands as Chicago's biggest snowstorm EVER! Stay tuned for updated information about this storm and please be careful the next few days. Don't leave your house unless absolutely necessary!

Good evening everyone!
Well, we have a very interesting weather approaching us in the next few days! I will have a complete rundown of the details in a later post.
Tomorrow evening will see the beginning of an impressive storm. 2-4" of snow is expected by Tuesday morning before the main event hits on Tuesday night. Beginning Tuesday afternoon, a BLIZZARD WATCH goes into effect and continues til Wednesday afternoon. This will likely be upgraded a BLIZZARD WARNING sometime on Tuesday! The combination of heavy snow and high winds will cause visibilites to be reduced to almost nothing. The latest models continue to indicate snow totals of 12-18" from the storm with as much as 20" possible for lakeside counties of Cook, Dupage etc. The specifics of this storm are yet to be worked out, but it could potentially top the Blizzard of '67 and will be the worst storm since January 1998.
More details later!
