Good evening everyone!
Wow, the snow is no through yet. Yesterday, Chicago picked up 2.6" from a mini little system that put Chicago's snowfall total over 50" for the fourth consecutive year. The first time in Chicago history that we have seen for straight years of at least 50." The snow totals continued to go up as another 3" blanket the city this afternoon and evening. Most of the snow in the city is winding down, but there are bursts of snow that could drop down a quick inch or so in spots, so please be careful. We have some very interested weather here the next couple of days! Tonight, temps will drop off to about zero as arctic air plunges into the area. This arctic air will hang around til at least Thursday and into Friday before temperatures will finally breaking freezing over the weekend and into the start of next week. A warming trend appears to be in place for next week which will begin to melt some of this deep snow pack in the city! How much we will warm up and how much snow will melt is still in question, but please be aware that this current cold spell will not be the last of the cold weather, and this is not the last of the snow either.
Tomorrow we will see a high of just 7 degrees and a low of -4, despite unlimited sunshine. NW winds will put wind chills at -25 below so please stay warm. Stay tuned for more updates and be sure to check the other pages out as well!
